Collaboration with the EORTC Quality of Life Group

The CHES.EORTC platform project

The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) is large independent research organization that conducts and promotes translational and clinical research in cancer. It was founded in 1962 and comprises a number of research groups dedicated to different tumour entities and specific issues in cancer research.

The EORTC Quality of Life Group is one of the most active research groups in the field of patient-reported outcome research in oncology. It has been developing a number of internationally widely used assessment instruments for quality of life, patient satisfaction, patient communication and symptom burden. The available instruments include item banks for the computer-adaptive assessment (CAT) of key parameters of quality of life in cancer patients.

Since 2009 ESD has been collaborating with the EORTC Quality of Life Group focusing on electronic PRO data capture within daily clinical practice and research.

This has recently resulted in the release of the CHES.EORTC platform (http://eortc.ches.pro/)

The CHES.EORTC platform is aiming at the development of a web-based tool for electronic data capture within daily oncology routine as well as the demonstration, dissemination and use of the computer-adaptive EORTC measures. Furthermore the platform is also supporting the development and validation of EORTC questionnaire modules.
